What are you trying to cap from? When I cap from video files on the computer on programs like Windows Media or Quicktime, there are certain things that I have to do in order to not get the black screen. I then paste it into Photoshop. But I use Powerdvd only for capping DVDs.
So, this is what I do for other video files. On Windows Media, you have to go into Options/preferences/something like that, just look around and you should find this, look for something called Video Acceleration. Turn it off, or set it to "none" and that should work. For Quicktime, pause the video and select Edit - Copy, then Paste it somewhere.
