Newbie questions on screencapping

Hi there, my first post here so pardon the newbie question :) I made a request for screencaps of Karel Roden from 15 minutes, but then I went to the video store, so I figured I'd go ahead and rent it and try to take some caps myself. The problem is that I can't seem to get any caps that aren't just blank screens. I know this is probably some real easy thing, but I've never taken screencaps from a DVD before, so I have no idea what I'm doing wrong. I've tried two different screen cap applications - snatchit and snag it. I've also tried two different players - powerDvd and interactual - and nothing I do produces an actual screencap, only a picture of a blank screen. What am I doing wrong? How do I go about getting the screencaps? I only have until tomorrow night with this DVD, so any help is greatly appreciated!! Thank you :)
