VLC Capping Question

I hope this is relevant, if not, feel free to delete.
I recently downloaded VLC media play to screencap. I've read the tutorials that were posted here but I'm still having problems.
When I have it on auto-capping my screencaps instantly go to my desktop instead of a folder. Is there anyway to fix this so they go to a set folder? However, I thought I'd mention when I cap one at a time the images go to the designated folder...
Also, is there a way to auto-cap only a certain portion of a video as well? Say I want to auto cap a scene 5 minutes into a video, can I change the preferences and would that work?
Thank you.
