"Book Revue" (1946)

"Have You Got Any Castles" (1938)

These are two of the cartoons where the books come to life. The earlier, "Have You Got Any Castles" is far superior in my opinion - it takes stabs at current popular culture and has a hilarious cameo of William Powell as The Thin Man. Also shown are Clark Gable, Cab Calloway (not an accurate caricature of him but it's supposed to sound like him) and W.C. Fields.
The second one "Book Revue" is more of a musical based cartoon and starts based on several books and quickly turns into Daffy Duck being chased by the Big Bad Wolf and saving Red Riding Hood. This one features a cameo by Frank Sinatra looking pretty scary actually - he's blue and an invalid. But all the females swoon over him so it really displays his popularity in the mid-40s which is fun to see.
