I have a dvd program that came on my computer and I tried the tutorial suggested for turning off that acceleration setting and it made my screen blink and then stopped the dvd from playing and I was back to square one. I had not yet opened my dvd player and a advertisement to upgrade came up automatically and one of the features you get when you upgrade is to capture images. I think the default version that came on my computer doesn't allow making captures. I tried it with both the dvd program, real audio and windows media...NONE worked. =( But hey I tried.
