Quick (but frustrated Admin post)

One quick little thing.
This is a community for POSTING caps. - We allow requests but only in the request post. All links point there, so do us all a favour and actually read the community userinfo, please. Do NOT post cap requests directly to the community. It's irritating, makes the community look gross, and smacks of someone's desperation. It isn't becoming.
I have deleted no less than 20 cap requests just today. From now on, anyone who posts a cap request will be warned for the first time. The second time a cap request is posted, the person will be suspended from the community for 2 weeks. The third time, that person will be banned from the community. There is no excuse for not reading the community rules, nor is there an excuse for ignoring a first warning. This is getting ridiculous.
Your mods (
adolwyn,
dancethetango,
peacefully,

_teufelchen_) are working hard to get this community running as smoothly as possible.
If anyone is in the generous giving mood, a paid account for the community would help muchly, because then the mods could post polls and such - which would enable us to see where you all stand on issues such as posting cap requests directly to the community.
Bottom line for the post? DO NOT POST CAPS REQUESTS DIRECTLY TO THE COMMUNITY. Get off the lazy buttocks and read the userinfo. Click on the link to request a cap. Post in the comments. And wait patiently for someone to fill your request.
Thank you,
The Mods

Date: 2004-06-30 02:02 am (UTC)However...is there a way that people that say that they can cap movies are FIRST directed to the request list if any of their movies are on there? There's a movie I've been waiting over a month for, and I'm sure others are in the same position. It would be great if some of those requests could be filled.
I'd love to donate a paid account....but alas, I'm too poor.

Date: 2004-06-30 03:04 am (UTC)The request page has been down for atleast a few days now... that could be why some people are getting restless and re-posting in the community.
Now I understand what was going on. I am new to the community...and I *DID* read the rules...but every time I tried to post under the "Make A Request" link on the user info page...the link would not work. So...I posted through the community. Sorry about that! :/

Date: 2004-06-30 03:20 am (UTC)To do polls, one of the mods ought to get a paid account. This is because the mod would be posting the poll to the community, not the community actually posting a poll to itself (because I don't think communities can do that sort of thing).
I see that you have a paid account. You can just post a poll within the community and that's that.

Date: 2004-06-30 03:34 pm (UTC)Is the site where the request form was gone now? I remember there being a place off of LJ where we could send in requests.
Is this where everyone should be posting their requests? http://www.livejournal.com/community/cap_it/279811.html
I just wanted to make sure. I really would like to help fulfill some of the requests, but I want to first make sure I'm looking in the right place for them.
I have a few suggestions. Please discard any that don't make sense or aren't helpful, I'm just brainstorming.
I noticed that many of those who request caps request from films that have already been capped. This is understandable if they want a specific scene that was not represented in the original, or if the link to the caps is broken (as was the case with the Queen of the Damned caps that had been made).
Of course, a great thing would be to have an archive off site with all of the zip files stored in one place so that when a person disappears or deletes their zip of caps, it's still available to the community. This, however, takes time and money:(
I do have a little idea for maybe the user info page or perhaps it coul dbe incorporated into the page layout -- a list of all capped films. That way people can check that list FIRST and if they can't find what they want, they can request. This would take work to add to the userinfo, but I thought perhaps if the comm were a paid one (I can donate some time if you want to try this suggestion out) you could make a layout that allows you to put a list of links or just titles on one side or something. I don't know. Maybe I'm just making it more complicated than it needs to be.
Ultimately I'd just like to see a uniform place to request, a list of capped films (and specific scenes if possible), an archive of zip files, and an easy way to fill requests.
:)
(With over 1000 people in the comm, I'm somewhat chagrined that no one seems to be able to donate $5! I know I can!)

Date: 2004-06-30 09:55 pm (UTC)but then on the page of the actual community (which many people do not necessarily view, since the comm is on friends pages) has the correct link to the post in the community.
