Jeebus Creebus. Hey, I need help.

I just installed the sucker and it's refusing to play .avi files, citing them as being DIVX and DIV3 format. Now, I checked the preferences and those are both listed as associated files.

Any idea what the problem could be? Solve this and lo, the lands shall be filled with my little pony caps. Okay, not such a great incentive.

I'm sorry for posting this but apparently I'm ignorant. I've tried to make screencaps using "print screen" and Microsoft paint but when I go to crop the image it moves and when I save it all I get is black. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about. Please help. Thanks.
