I tried to cap some scenes from HP & GOF about a week ago using CyberLink PowerDVD and all the caps turned out somewhat squished looking even though the image was perfect on the player. I can't figure it out so I thought I'd ask about the best free screencap programs in this community since it could be helpful to others, not just myself. I hope it's not too far off topic. Thanks! :)

I bet the settings were probably wonky for PowerDVD, I use it for mine and they turn out fine. On the advanced options/snapshot screen, mine is set capture to file on the top half, and then current video window size and the keep aspect ratio box is checked (I'm using version 6). Did yours maybe get switched to some custom size or something?

I use virtualdub, but you have to do the caps yourself noe by one, i'm not sure if there is a program out there where you hit start and it does it automatically for you? Is there?
