I read the community rules and I think (and hope) this post is allowed. If not, feel free to delete.

I have a technical question for anyone who can answer it. What program(s) do you use to get your screen-caps? I have tried using Windows Media, Real Player, and a few others, but when I paste into Paint, and try to edit or move them, it won't work.

I hope I don't sound totally ignorant... I've only just gotten into making icons and other graphics. Any information you could give me on this subject of types of programs would be great.

Thank you in advance to all who comment on this post!

Love to everyone,
Kirsten

Windows Media and Real Player are horrible when it comes to capping. I use WinDVD for mine and I absolutely love it. I also know of PowerDVD, which I've heard nothing but good things about.

With WinDVD, there's no copying and pasting needed. There's a small camera icon in the toolbar and you simply snap and save.

Hope that helps.

no I got mine from a copy from a friend who I think *may* have gotten it from Kazaa?

I use PowerDVD and have a DVD drive in my computer. There is a little camera icon and you just click it and it saves the caps to your designated folder. You can also choose whether to keep the original video or if you want the cap the size of the screen.

I use PowerDVD myself, but many people also use WinDVD. There are tutorials for both programs in the memories section. ^_^x

I use WinDvd5 - but note that it won't let you cap anything that it's from a DVD. For non-DVD caps, I use Virtual Dub - it caps every frame in the selection you tell it to. Very useful. :)
