I just recently downloaded Paintshop Pro 8 for a trial, and I'm trying to figure out how exactly to cap things. Everything I've tried has come up with the big ol' black screen o' doom. If I pause things I can't get it to cap, if I keep it running I just get the black screen.

Help?

Please?

Thanks :)

Are you actually copying the screen and trying to paste it into Paintshop Pro? Because, I don't use Paintshop Pro, but I found that when I use actual image programs, the caps don't show up. There are programs to cap that you can purchase or download for a free trial. I use WinDVD, which is amazing. I don't know what I did without it :)

But, like I said, I don't use Paintshop Pro, so I don't know if it's capable of taking caps.

If you want to take a screencap form a dvd you have to have a dvd player program on your computer that has the screen capping ablity.

What are you trying to cap from? When I cap from video files on the computer on programs like Windows Media or Quicktime, there are certain things that I have to do in order to not get the black screen. I then paste it into Photoshop. But I use Powerdvd only for capping DVDs.

So, this is what I do for other video files. On Windows Media, you have to go into Options/preferences/something like that, just look around and you should find this, look for something called Video Acceleration. Turn it off, or set it to "none" and that should work. For Quicktime, pause the video and select Edit - Copy, then Paste it somewhere.

Did I help any?

I have a dvd program that came on my computer and I tried the tutorial suggested for turning off that acceleration setting and it made my screen blink and then stopped the dvd from playing and I was back to square one. I had not yet opened my dvd player and a advertisement to upgrade came up automatically and one of the features you get when you upgrade is to capture images. I think the default version that came on my computer doesn't allow making captures. I tried it with both the dvd program, real audio and windows media...NONE worked. =(
But hey I tried.
